Home Made Cheap Party Decorations with Paper

Cheap wrapping paper is great for quick, bright and cheap party decorations. To give a room a festive party atmosphere in no time, you can stick brightly colored wrapping paper at random angles onto a wall.

Buy a cheap, white paper tablecloth and have the children decorate it with poster paints or crayons.

You can buy cheap rolls of white paper to make banners – again, give the children some poster paint and put them on the kitchen floor or somewhere it doesn’t matter if they make a mess, and let them use their imagination! Cheap, heavy construction paper is great for party decorations. Just cut out generously sized, simple but striking shapes, then paint them with colorful poster paints.

Why not get the Christmas lights out? Lights are always great decorations and you may as well get the use out of your Christmas electrical ropes and lights.

Characters and Special Party Decorations

Want to throw a cartoon or superhero themed party? Special decorations too expensive? Get magazines, cartoons, movie brochures or TV papers, and cut out the characters to glue to plain white paper or even to the back of old wallpaper cut offs.

Balloons can be bought cheaply in bulk and even ones that are on the small side look great if hung in bunches. You can dress them up by gluing bits of fabric, wiggly eyes or ribbons to them.

A “Making Things” Box for Cheap Party Decorations

Now you’ve successfully decorated for one party on the cheap, it’s time to start preparing for future parties! Get a big cardboard or wooden box and keep it under the stairs or somewhere else that is out of the way but easy to get to. Now have the whole family throw stuff in the box that can be used for making party decorations instead of throwing them in the trash!

Think of all the fun you can have in future, going through that box and deciding on what kind of decorations you are going to make with it. Remeber, especially Christmas tree decorations can be made from almost anything. There does not even have to be a theme, anything goes!
